Career path
Senior Graphic Designer → Graphics Supervisor / Head of Graphics
Day to day
Breakdown graphics; schedule designers; approve hero work with PD/Director; budget print/screens/clears; archive masters/fonts at wrap.
Call times
Mostly prep in the graphics room; attend set when dressing hero graphics or screens. Overnight print and clearance rushes before shoot days are common — check the graphics schedule against unit call.
What to wear
Smart-casual in prep; blacks when dressing on set; clean hands for hero paper props.
Tools & kit
Laptop, calibrated screen where possible, colour-accurate prints kit oversight, radio on set days.
Tips
UK features often house Graphics inside Art; larger TV/film units list Graphics as its own department on the call sheet.
Software
- Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop / InDesign
- After Effects for simple motion
- Acrobat / Bluebeam for proofs
- Font management (e.g. Typekit / FontBase)
- Midjourney / Firefly for mockups only (check IP/clearance — never final hero without rights)
- ChatGPT for copy variants (legal/clearance still required)
- After Effects for simple motion / screen loops
- Acrobat / Bluebeam proofs
