Location Scout

Finds and photographs candidate locations to brief — UK Locations grade; confirm title on the call sheet and deal memo.

Duties

• Read the call sheet and sides before arriving
• Maintain radio/set etiquette and H&S
• Hand over notes/kit status at wrap
• Scout to brief
• Photo/video packs
• Note access, noise, power, parking
• Maintain scout library

Reports to

Location Manager / PD / Producer as engaged

Works with

LM, PD, Director, DoP on recce

Career path

Location Assistant → Location Scout → ALM

Day to day

Hunt options; photo with clear notes; rights of access caveats; present packs to LM/PD/Director.

Call times

Often the earliest department: lock-ups, signage, parking and neighbour liaison before trucks. Wrap after unit clears and the location is made good.

What to wear

Practical outdoor clothing; hi-vis when marshalling; boots; weatherproof layers; radio pouch; smarter kit for council/owner meetings in prep.

Tools & kit

Radio, hi-vis, torch, cone/signage kit as issued, measuring wheel, weatherproof notebook.
