Sustainability roles & skills on set

Sustainability is becoming a defined department, not a side job for the PM. In June 2025 the BFI, BAFTA albert and ScreenSkills published the UK’s first National Occupational Standards and skills checklists for sustainability leads, coordinators and assistants, with a three-tier structure employers can recruit against. If you are asked to ‘also do green’, ask for the role title, training time, budget line and whether albert certification sits with you or a dedicated hire. Freelancers can use ScreenSkills checklists to evidence competence when applying.
