Working in TV: scripted vs unscripted
Scripted TV drama and comedy from independent producers is covered by the Pact/Bectu Scripted TV Agreement: four budget bands per broadcast hour, a 10-hour contracted day, overtime at 1.5T within a minimum and maximum, and 11-hour turnaround. Unscripted (factual, entertainment, reality) and studio TV are not covered by that agreement. Rates are usually daily or weekly deals, so check hours, overtime and holiday pay in your deal memo. BBC and ITV staff and in-house productions have their own terms.
