Episode Director

Directs a block of episodes in a TV series within the style set by the series lead.

Duties

• Read the call sheet and sides before arriving
• Maintain radio/set etiquette and H&S
• Hand over notes/kit status at wrap
• Prep block scripts and shot lists
• Direct episodes in the block
• Deliver director's cut on schedule

Producer / Series Director

1st AD, DoP, Cast, Editor

Career path

Shadow Director → Episode Director → Series Director

Day to day

Preps the block, shoots to schedule with the 1st AD and delivers a director's cut to post.

Call times

Director calls with the 1st AD before unit call for blocking; wraps after rushes/next-day prep. Prep and post follow office/edit hours.

What to wear

Smart-casual in the office; practical layers and comfortable shoes on set.

Tips
