Model Making Coordinator

Admin and logistics support for the UK model unit: orders, schedules, budgets, paperwork and workshop running so makers can stay on the bench.

Duties

• Support HOD with schedules, crew lists and budget tracking
• Place orders for materials, consumables and specialist hire
• Chase deliveries; keep SDS and purchase paperwork
• Coordinate meetings and outside-company bookings
• Liaise Production office, Accounts and Props Storeman on handovers
• Help track makes against shoot dates and standby needs
• Assist wrap: returns, asset lists and workshop clearance paperwork

HOD Model Maker / Supervising Model Maker

Works with

Model unit, Prop Master/Coordinator, Storeman, Production office, Accounts, Art Department

Career path

Runner / Assistant path or sideways from Art/Props coordinating → Model Making Coordinator

Day to day

Update the make board; process POs; chase late materials; book couriers; keep timesheets and start forms moving; ping Standby Props when heroes are ready.

Call times

Office/workshop hours aligned to model unit; early starts when shoot-critical deliveries are due. May attend unit base when coordinating handovers.

What to wear

Workshop-smart casual; closed-toe shoes; PPE when entering spray/resin areas; blacks if on set.

Tools & kit

Laptop/phone; shared drives; label printer; radio when chasing set deliveries.

On smaller shows Model Making may sit under Props as Prop Modelling; larger features often list Model Making as its own department.
